Jane Cahill - Keeping Customers Happy

In the latest of our series interviewing our people about their careers and style, we sit down with Jane from our customer happiness team.

Can you tell me about your journey at Fields?

I started off working in the stores, I worked in Jervis Street and then Grafton Street and Vicky was my manager in both of those stores.

She is now my manager on the Customer Happiness Team, we have a great working relationship. I’ve been in my current role for three years.

We’re big on PASSION here at Fields, what do you love most about your job?

I loved being in the stores and what I loved there is the same as what I love here; interacting with the customers. Because of our amazing range of products from kids’ jewellery to bridal jewellery to luxury watches we have so many different types of customers and I love the variety in that.

I love getting to interact with so many different people every day. Fields still has a feeling of being a small warm community, we have a really friendly and devoted customer base.

I love having a customer-based job. I also do all our social media-based customer service, any DMs that come in on Instagram or Facebook, I answer.

What was your first piece of Fields jewellery?

A Daniel Wellington watch, bought with my first pay cheque when I was working in our Jervis Street store.

I’ve bought a huge amount of jewellery since then! I still treat myself to something from Fields every month. There are just so many beautiful pieces!

What’s your favourite current jewellery trend?

I love our new yellow gold range, especially the hoop earrings and layered necklaces. We’re right on point with all of these trends at Fields, they’re all well-catered for.

What’s on your wish list?

I used to be a devotee of silver and white gold but I’ve started wearing yellow gold, so I’m building up my collection. Probably at the top of my wish list is the 1 carat diamond tennis bracelet.

I especially love watches too so I’ll need to add a yellow gold watch to my collection.

Have you done any specific training/upskilling that enhances your ability in your current role?

I have done Fields MTP (managers training program), Fields diamond training and watch brand training (Gucci, Tudor, Tissot, Omega).

What are the key traits for working on the Customer Happiness Team?

The customer happiness team is a small team so you must work well in a team, have empathy, patience and great communication skills.

Do you have any advice for anyone considering a career in the jewellery industry?

Working in the jewellery industry is really interesting, there is always something new to learn so go in with an open mind - and enjoy browsing and learning about the products and brands!

SHOP JANE'S LOOK

They are perfect when worn on their own or can be accessorised with other hoops or even stud earrings. It can also of course be worn with a number of different earrings to create the seriously on-trend stacked look.

We have a great selection of earrings that you can shop to create your own unique stack.

As it's made from 9 carat yellow gold, it is also durable and long lasting. Its design means it can be worn in casual day to day looks or really stand out in a more elegant outfit at an important event like a wedding.

No jewellery collection would be complete without a statement bracelet. To complete her edit, Rebecca opted for one of our most popular bracelets - the sterling silver gold plated Herringbone Bracelet. We have a wide selection of bracelets and this particular piece exudes elegance.

You can see perfectly it sits alongside Rebecca's smartwatch when worn as part of a casual ensemble, but again this would be perfect when worn with more formal attire on its own or in a stacked wrist look.
