An Interview with Jeri Mahon Sherlock of @Dublinerdoodles

As you know, we here at Fields are big fans of your work, how did you become an illustrator?

I would say I’m more of an accidental illustrator! I’ve always worked in creative fields and mixed media, but started drawing as a hobby to unwind after work and on my downtime.

Through referrals and social media I started to receive enquiries for commissions, which led to custom prints, wedding invitations, portraits, and bespoke brand work.

I still like to draw for myself, to relax or stretch my creativity and value the creative outlet it offers me. I think art therapy is really effective and often underrated!

How did you enjoy bringing our Zodiac collection to life?

I loved working with the Fields team on the Zodiac collection! The pieces are beautiful, which made it easy, and I really enjoyed being able to tell the story of each piece through the integration of the characters.

Tell us about the inspiration behind our Christmas card?

I aimed to keep the card simple and allow the beautiful jewellery to stand out. Each piece, while simple and timeless, has special touches of sparkle and its own uniqueness, so I wanted to convey the detail of each piece in a considered way. I also loved incorporating the star-inspired Christmas theme!

Who is your favourite artist?

Australian artist Cj Hendry has to be one of my favourites. A self-made “instagram artist”, her work and attention to detail are just incredible. We have some amazing artists in Ireland too who I admire - Gearoid O'Dea, Sara O’Neill and Fatti Burke, to name a few.

Who or what inspires your work?

I take inspiration from everyday life, to be honest! I’ll often be inspired by cultural events and lifestyle trends. I’m a big foodie and travel lover so I get my best inspiration from dining out and traveling. Food, drinks and destinations offer such a vast range of colour, lines, shapes that really spark my creativity.

What’s your own jewellery style and do you have any favourite jewellery trends?

I prefer classic elegance when it comes to my jewellery. I don’t wear a lot of jewellery, one or two pieces at a time, and pearls and diamonds feature quite heavily on rotation.

And finally, if you’ve had a chance to look at Fields what pieces are on your own Christmas wish list and what will you be gifting others this Christmas?

I love the pearl and diamond set loop stud earrings, as seen in the Christmas card illustration. If I’m adding to the wish list, I’d have to get the matching pendant too!

Funny story, my husband has already had two wedding bands from Fields. Having misplaced the first one shortly after getting married, he then went and purchased another. So, I suppose given his track record I’ll be gifting him a third very soon!

They are perfect when worn on their own or can be accessorised with other hoops or even stud earrings. It can also of course be worn with a number of different earrings to create the seriously on-trend stacked look.

We have a great selection of earrings that you can shop to create your own unique stack.

As it's made from 9 carat yellow gold, it is also durable and long lasting. Its design means it can be worn in casual day to day looks or really stand out in a more elegant outfit at an important event like a wedding.

No jewellery collection would be complete without a statement bracelet. To complete her edit, Rebecca opted for one of our most popular bracelets - the sterling silver gold plated Herringbone Bracelet. We have a wide selection of bracelets and this particular piece exudes elegance.

You can see perfectly it sits alongside Rebecca's smartwatch when worn as part of a casual ensemble, but again this would be perfect when worn with more formal attire on its own or in a stacked wrist look.
