Buying the Latest Trends with Danielle Jacques

We are continuing our series where we look at the brilliant people we have behind the scenes here at Fields. Here we catch up with Danielle Jacques from the Buying & Merchandising Team.

What does your role at Fields involve?

I’m the assistant buyer so I assist Rachel in all areas. Purchasing, monitoring stock, forecasting, sales analysis and analysing trends. I make sure we have all the right jewellery in all the right places!

Tell us about your career path in jewellery

I’ve been working in jewellers since I was 15, my own family own jewellers. At 19 I walked into Fields as Christmas staff and here I am, a few short years later! I progressed from store assistant to acting store manager in Henry St. and completed the Fields management training programme.

From there I became the manager of our Dundrum store; I was one of the youngest managers in Fields. I took a sabbatical to travel and when I returned Fields came looking for me! I’ve been in my current role with Rachel for 11 years.

What was your first piece of jewellery from Fields?

My first piece from Fields was my Claddagh ring for my communion, it was gifted to me by my godparents. We still have a gorgeous collection of communion jewellery at Fields.

What do you love about your role?

I love the fact that every day I don’t know what I’m coming in to! I love our team, a lot of us in the company are here a long time and I enjoy progressing within the company with the same people, we’re all growing together. In changing times we all adapt and we all help each other.

Do you have any jewellery memories you would like to share?

Jewellery was always my thing, my auntie used to come over from England wearing big sovereign rings and I loved them.

One of my earliest pieces from Fields was from when I wasn’t yet working here. It was a torque ring and I found it in Fields in Jervis St., and wore it on my thumb. I was 12.

What's on your Fields wish list?

This stunning diamond tennis bracelet.

What jewellery trends do you like at the moment?

I love ear stackingYellow gold has become very popular again, and personalised jewellery like name pendants and initial necklaces are definitely on-trend and I don’t see that changing any time soon.

They are perfect when worn on their own or can be accessorised with other hoops or even stud earrings. It can also of course be worn with a number of different earrings to create the seriously on-trend stacked look.

We have a great selection of earrings that you can shop to create your own unique stack.

As it's made from 9 carat yellow gold, it is also durable and long lasting. Its design means it can be worn in casual day to day looks or really stand out in a more elegant outfit at an important event like a wedding.

No jewellery collection would be complete without a statement bracelet. To complete her edit, Rebecca opted for one of our most popular bracelets - the sterling silver gold plated Herringbone Bracelet. We have a wide selection of bracelets and this particular piece exudes elegance.

You can see perfectly it sits alongside Rebecca's smartwatch when worn as part of a casual ensemble, but again this would be perfect when worn with more formal attire on its own or in a stacked wrist look.
